Home Means… Stepping Back in Time

“I think we did a good thing in little old Reno. People are always surprised.”               – Lauren Stowell

Next time you’re out and about, look around at what people are wearing and you might be surprised (or not) to find that vintage is making a comeback. Personally, I’ve always loved looks from the 1950s and 60s. I even have a pair of bellbottom jeans that continue to see the light of day because they give my everyday look a new edge!

While the idea of reinventing looks from an older era isn’t a new concept, Lauren Stowell and Abby Cox are truly capitalizing on what it means to bring the past back to life. Royal Vintage is a shoe company, based out of Nevada, that specializes in recreating footwear from the 1920s, 30s and 40s.

At the beginning of February, the creative duo introduced their 2018 collections through a one-of-a-kind virtual fashion show via Facebook Live. “I think we did an amazing thing. It was so many people coming together and working together to create something that’s greater than the sum of it’s part,” said Lauren Stowell, CEO at Royal Vintage.

Abby Cox, Vice President at Royal Vintage adds, “What made me so emotional was how many small local Reno businesses came together to work on a surprisingly big project. Everyone worked together to create this beautiful thing.”

As you can see from the show, these looks can be paired with both vintage and modern clothing. Whether you’re looking for something more unique or like to stick with the classics (I LOVE my Marilyn pumps… pictured below), Royal Vintage offers a little something for everyone (and they’re comfortable too!).
