“No matter what people tell you, words and ideas can change the world.” – Robin Williams
Have you ever heard of TED or TEDx? The company is a nonprofit dedicated to sharing ideas. Unlike TED which is on a grander scale, TEDx is on a community-by-community basis, which brings me to today’s #homemeansblog post. I’ve heard of TED and TEDx before, but never have I had the chance to go to an event, until this year. Happening on Saturday, January 27 #TEDxUNR is returning to the Biggest Little City.
Leading up to the big event, I’ve had the honor of interviewing former and current speakers, as well as some of this year’s sponsors. When Ky and I started this blog the goal was to celebrate people and tell their unique stories. Talk about unique storytelling! Each of the wonderful people we’ve sat down and talked with has had a personal story worth sharing. Many of the talks that will be shared on Saturday are about personal experiences and ideas.
While we aren’t allowed to talk about the speaker’s topics ahead of the event, you can watch their talks in action three different ways:
- At the Reno-Sparks Convention Center (tickets are sold out, but don’t worry!)
- The downtown Reno public library is streaming the event LIVE! Register here.)
- Youtube… each talk is recorded and uploaded online after the event in case you aren’t able to watch on Saturday
After #TEDxUNR we will be featuring some of the speakers right here on the blog. In the meantime, check out these Facebook live interviews to hear about their backgrounds and what inspires them.
